21 Years & Counting

21 Years and Counting

This week at Café Tamayo we celebrate our 21st anniversary.  We were thinking about the things that drew us to Saugerties, and about being a part of this community. The things that drew us here have not changed, beautiful architecture, a real village to live in with things like a home town shoe store, pharmacy, dry cleaner, hardware store, chocolate store, beautiful Seamon Park, and much more.  In the restaurant we have seen children become adults, dates turn into engagements, marriages, and families. We have kept in touch with many employees and watched their carriers grow and change. The village has also changed.  Luckily for us, all those things that drew us here remain, and the changes have been positive. The light house was renovated and opened, small word playground was built, the ice rink was built, the Kiersted House became a museum, and we are happy to be part of a group that brought the Saugerties farmers market to life.  We call all of these things, Saugerties growing “gracefully” and   becoming even a better place to live.  So in this our anniversary week, as well as a week for “Thanksgiving” we realize that Saugerties, our village, is one of the things that we are thankful for.     Rickie & James TamayoCafe Tamayo

Pumpkin Soup Recipe

November 1, 2008

Here is the pumpkin soup recipe that Jimmy cooked at the Farmers Market last weekend.  It was a good last market for the season, and the soup was wonderful a cool Fall Saturday.  We are looking forward for the first time this year to a winter market on Sundays, once a month.   Hope to see everyone at the restaurant, the Inn or the Farmers Market over the winter.curried-pumpkin-soup
